Installation and Maintenance

Maintain and install a cardan shaft, which will save a lot in your business. Please follow the below guide, hope can help you a little.

1. Performance Check

Check whether there is any abnormality in the operation of the Cardan shaft. This can ensure safety, but also improve the operation rate of machinery and equipment while helping to extend the service life of the Cardan shaft.
When abnormalities are found during the use of the Cardan shaft, the equipment should be stopped immediately and find the reason.
The Cardan shaft needs to check every six months.
Inspection items are as follows.
1) Check the wear of the cross pin journal, bearing outer ring and short cylindrical roller surface, measure its radial clearance, and observe whether the contact surface has an indentation, pitting, spalling, cracking, and other phenomena.

2) Check whether the spline shaft is sliding flexible. When the spline teeth are worn, deformed or the fit clearance is too large, they should be replaced or repaired.

2. Lubrication of key parts

Bearings and splines need to be lubricated regularly. Under the premise of normal operation and stable working conditions, oil once a week within six months and once every six months. The spline shaft and Cardan shaft used for the main drive of the mill should be oiled once every three months. Squeeze out the new oil from the t-type oil seal until the new oil overflows (generally use 2# lithium base grease or 2# molybdenum disulfide calcium base grease).
To ensure the safe operation of the Cardan shaft, avoid jamming of the connecting end, causing the cross joint to twist off and fly out and injure people. The spindle connected with the cross pack needs to be fully lubricated, the spindle bearing needs to be replaced regularly, and it is recommended to install safety covers on the two flange forks.

Daily maintenance

If abnormalities such as strange noise, vibration, and oil leakage are found, the equipment should be stopped as soon as possible and checked carefully. Even if no abnormalities are found during the use of the Cardan shaft, it should be checked regularly. Because the Cardan shaft is mainly used continuously in important parts for a long time, it cannot be stopped in the middle. The standard working time is 5000 hours or one year, and the specific service life should be determined according to the use conditions.
A) Cardan shaft disassembly
Dirt and oil on the Cardan shaft should be removed during disassembly to prevent access to the bearings and splines. Before disassembly, mark all joint parts, bearings, cross shafts, etc. with white paint or other colors to prevent misalignment during subsequent assembly.
B) Cleaning
Please note that bearings and cross shafts need to be cleaned separately, not in the same tank with other parts, and blow-dry with compressed air after cleaning.
C) Inspection
After the Cardan shaft is disassembled, the wear of the main parts needs to be carefully checked and the parts should be replaced according to the degree of wear. Check the cross shaft and rolling surface for spalling, pitting, wear, and indentation. If there are, they need to be replaced.
D) Assembling
When assembling, proceed in the reverse order of disassembly and follow the white marks so that the total position is exactly the same as before disassembly. The forkhead and spline sleeve at both ends of the spline shaft should be in the same phase; ensure that the unilateral axial clearance of the cross shaft is 0.05~0.10mm; the connecting bolt should be pre-tightened with a torque wrench according to the specified pre-tightening torque; after assembly, relubricate its bearing and spline.
